David Bumgardner is a Christian, a minister, and an author.

David has served numerous churches in a variety of capacities. He is a licensed local church minister and a commissioned evangelist. His ministry has taken him everywhere from the gentle hills of North Texas to the majestic mountains of the Pacific Northwest and the lively bayou city of New Orleans. He has also written widely read articles as an ecumenical contributor for Baptist News Global and reviewed books for Christianity Today.

Affected profoundly by the early death of his older brother, followed soon after by his beloved grandparents, David became a thoughtful, introspective young man. After personally embracing the Christian faith and receiving baptism, he sensed a call to Christian ministry and has since manifested an authentic, outgoing faith.

Appreciative of his parents’ Baptist tradition, David earned his first theological degree from Texas Baptist College at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, TX while serving Lake Church, First Baptist Church Corsicana, Faith Memorial Baptist Church and Cornerstone Baptist Church.

David has passionately engaged in robust racial reconciliation work, culminating in his free-church licensure to ministry in one of the nation’s largest African American Southern Baptist churches.

David is currently pursuing graduate theological education at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL.

Drawing from a testimony filled with powerful redemption from sin and suffering, David describes his ministerial calling as “to serve God’s people through proclaiming God’s offer of mercy displayed in the cross of Christ.”

Finding theological nourishment in the classic writings of Augustine of Hippo, Athanasius of Alexandria, Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Wesley, C.S. Lewis and John R. W. Stott, David preaches the Word with precision, piety, and passion. He finds special joy, however, in presence with God’s people in worship.

David is delighted to invite you to come and worship the Lord with his church!
